Norfolk YFC was formed in March 1944 to provide support to rural young people. In it’s early days these young people were predominately from farming families, but this soon changed as the programme of activities widened and therefore its appeal to young people.
Its activities and events are kept fresh by the young people at the helm, as each club is run by young people for young people. If the programme is not to your liking you will have ample opportunity to make suggestions for change and why not take on a role within your club?
Norfolk has 27 clubs.
Twelve senior Young Farmers Clubs for the 14 -26 age range and fourteen Countrysider Clubs for the 10 -16 age range. Activities vary but will include social events, sports, competitions, visits and talks. Most of the clubs will nominate a charity for the year and undertake sponsored events to raise funds. In 2015-2016 over £18,000 was raised for charity by the young people in Norfolk YFC.
Whether it be a competition, training or a fancy dress social there is only one prerequisite to being a young farmer member …. a sense of humour!
